Monticello Christian Church is opening its doors to support our friends and neighbors in Bement during the water emergency. We have showers available in both the Men’s and Women’s restrooms today, Sunday, December 7, 2025, from 3:00 PM to 8:00 PM. Each person will have a 20-minute time slot. Please bring your own towel, soap and other needs. Emergency services in Bement have water available, but if you bring a container to the church, we’ll gladly fill it for you. Due to ongoing heating issues in the main portion of our building, Bement CUSD 5 will utilize a Remote Learning Day on Monday, December 8, 2025. This decision is being made to ensure the comfort and safety of our students and staff.

✅ Evening activities WILL still take place as scheduled.
The gym is heated through a separate system and remains fully operational for all scheduled events.

💻 Chromebook Access Tonight
For middle school and high school students who need to pick up a Chromebook, Door 10 will be open tonight, Sunday, December 7, from 5:00–7:00 PM.

We appreciate your flexibility and support as we navigate this unexpected situation. Our maintenance team continues to work diligently toward a full resolution.

While some progress has been made, temperatures are still not at an acceptable level in several areas of the school.

For the safety and comfort of our students and staff, we will be dismissing at noon today.

Buses will run at that time, and parents may pick up students at noon as well.

An announcement will be made by 2:00 PM regarding afterschool activities.

We’ve noticed that some areas of the school building are colder than others. Our team is actively working to resolve the issue. In the meantime, we encourage students and staff to dress in layers to stay warm throughout the day. I also want parents to be aware that if this issue cannot be fully resolved, we may need to release students early for their safety and comfort. Bement PTO Kids Shop FINAL Collection Date / Time

The PTO will have one final collection date / time to collect items to be given away at the Christmas PTO Kids Shop

We accept: household items, men's / women's accessories / Christmas wrapping paper / donations

The Kids Shop will be open on December 13 starting at 11:30 -2:00 or while supplies last
Kids will be able to shop for Mom / Dad for FREE and pick out an item to wrap to give them for Christmas.
There will be a waiting area for parents to sit while their children shop and wrap with a PTO volunteer.

We have just gotten the word that the JH Boys Basketball game for Bement has been cancelled due to weather.

There will be NO JH boys basketball practice tonight.

All other practices for after school at CG are still taking place.

The JH Boys Basketball game being played in Bement tonight is still scheduled to start at 6:00.
We will keep everyone updated if anything should change.

The JHGBB regional game at Salt Fork is being postponed until tomorrow due to the weather.

The JH Girls will NOT practice tonight, Monday December 1.

They will play tomorrow night December 2 at 7:00 at Salt Fork. The Bement bus will leave at 5:10

Mrs. Block's 7th grade Life Science class took advantage of Friday's nice weather.
The class was divided into two teams. Teams were challenged to create a detailed animal cell using available items.
Students were given 5 minutes to plan, 20 minutes to build and 5 minutes to present their cell and cell structures.
The teams competed valiantly and after double overtime, the result was a tie and both teams won!

Over 55 FCCLA members participated in their annual Foods for Families event by collecting food donations for the Bement Food Pantry. Through their efforts, members helped support local families in need while promoting community service and leadership. After the collection, students celebrated their hard work with a fun pizza gathering.

Special thanks to the many volunteers of the Bement Food Pantry for their help in organizing the event and to the communities of Bement, Ivesdale, and Milmine for your generous donations to such a great cause.

Reminder: Bement CUSD 5 students will be dismissed at noon on Friday, October 31.
