Our Sports & Entertainment Marketing students had the honor of presenting a check for $1,296.52 to the Bement Food Pantry from our Movie for Meals event. This donation will help purchase items to create bags of food for local families in need this Thanksgiving. We are so grateful to everyone who supported this project—whether you attended the event, donated, or helped spread the word. It truly takes a village, and Bement showed up in a big way.
Thank you for helping our students make a real difference right here at home. 💜🐾

The high school football game on Saturday, October 18th has been designated as “The Tackle for a Cure Game” featuring Tri-County and Arcola/CGB. October is breast cancer awareness month and to support this important cause, all six high school principals from Arcola, Bement, Cerro Gordo, Kansas, Oakland, and Shiloh will be competing in a fun “Battle of the Principals.”
From Tuesday, October 7th through Friday, October 17th, students will have the chance to donate money toward the principal they would most like to see pied during halftime of the football game. The principal who raises the most money will take a pie to the face during halftime. Even better—if the principals collectively raise $1,000 or more, all six will get pied!
If you would like to see Mr. Kepley take a pie, stop by the office, and drop your donation in his jar!

Ameren Illinois awarded a grant to John and Anita Boone for The Jamie Boone Project. This grant will be used to fill J.A.M.I.E. bags. Each J.A.M.I.E. Bag (Just A Mental Inventory Everyday) is thoughtfully designed for middle school and high school students as a supportive resource during challenging times. Bement CUSD 5 was gifted with 30 J.A.M.I.E. bags thanks to this grant.

Big thanks to our guest speakers this week!
Mrs. Leinard’s 8th grade Career Exploration class got to meet with Kirby Medical Center online to learn about healthcare careers, and Deputy Bross stopped by to share about law and public safety.
We’re so grateful for the amazing resources and people who take time to help our students explore future careers!

Mr. Snyder’s 8th grade history class visited Bryant Cottage today. It was a great visit.

Bement Middle School Science students created identical paper airplanes using 3 types of paper. They hypothesized which paper would fly the farthest. Students were able to go outside and test their hypothesis. The 6th grade class thought this was a great way to start a Monday.

Today, Mrs. Leinard’s Sports & Entertainment Marketing class had the privilege of hearing from Cerro Gordo graduate Sophie Ozier, General Manager of the Arkansas Travelers.
She shared her journey from internships with the St. Louis Blues and Fox Sports Midwest to entry-level positions and ultimately becoming GM of a Double-A affiliate of the Seattle Mariners. Sophie encouraged students to pursue their passions and reminded them that a career in sports marketing is possible—starting right here in our hometown.
