We will honor our 8th grade XC runners on October 17 prior to the JH girls basketball game at 5:45.
Bement High School art students took part in Plein-air painting at Allerton Park on Friday. Before our trip, students practice different watercolor techniques and watercolor painting. Students also got some great advice from Plein-air painter Peg Schinkedanz.
Students had a lot of fun painting in nature and checking out the new nature center at Allerton Park.

Students in Mrs. Corum's 8th Grade Intro to FCS class have been studying future career options. Students took an interest survey and then researched 3 possible career options based on their results. They then interviewed their peers to learn more about different career opportunities and will meet with our guidance counselor to explore their future plans. Careers ranged from pediatricians, teachers, farmers, detectives, EMT's, writers, and zoo keepers.
Students also began their infant care unit this week as they learned about the various reasons why babies cry and how to respond to each care event with our infant simulators.

John Frerichs shared his knowledge working with drones today with some of our middle school students. WAND TV has shared with us this story should air on Monday, September 30th. Thank you for sharing your drone experiences with our students.

The CGB Booster Club meeting scheduled for tonight at 5:30 at Cerro Gordo has been cancelled.
The high school volleyball game on Tuesday, September 17th will be played in Cerro Gordo, not Bement. The freshman game will begin at 5:00 PM.
Students in Mrs. Block's 8th grade science class used their Engineering Design skills to master this lab challenge. Students had 20 sheets of newspaper, masking tape, scissors and 30 minutes to construct a structure that would hold a book 15 centimeters off of the table for 30 seconds. Two teams were successful with several that nearly succeeded.
Thank you Andrew Greta and Maya Nelson from the University of Illinois System for donating chairs to Mrs. Leinard's high school computer lab.

Our Bement CGB Football players love giving our Elementary Students a Good Morning "High Five". GO BRONCOS!
Peg Schickedanz (guest artist from Bloomington) shared her plein-air watercolors, process and techniques with high school Art classes. She also gave each student a package to use in their own plein-air painting, including a sketchbook, and pencil bag.
