We have been notified that the Village of Bement has officially lifted the boil order. Thank you for your patience and cooperation while this was in place.

The district will continue to provide bottled water for students and staff as needed, and anyone who prefers to bring their own water from home is welcome to do so.

We are pleased to share that school will resume in person on Wednesday, December 10. Thank you for your patience, flexibility, and understanding as we worked through the recent heating issues that made our building unsafe for student attendance on Monday and Tuesday.

At this time, the Village of Bement remains under a boil order. As a result, we encourage students to bring a bottle of drinking water from home if possible. The district does have water available for students who are unable to bring any from home.

We sincerely appreciate your support as we navigated these unexpected challenges and are grateful to welcome our students back to the building.

If a student reads a story or book and writes down the name of the book, the author, and they write at least 1 sentence about the story and provides it to me the day we return to school, I will give their PAWS house 5 additional points.

Hope Walker has been honored by the Rotary Club of Decatur as the November Teacher of the Month.

Due to ongoing work to repair our boiler system, Bement Schools will have a Remote Learning Day on Tuesday, December 9, 2025. Students should follow the remote learning instructions provided by their teachers.

We appreciate your understanding as we continue to address this issue and prioritize student and staff safety.

Monticello Christian Church is opening its doors to support our friends and neighbors in Bement during the water emergency. We have showers available in both the Men’s and Women’s restrooms today, Sunday, December 7, 2025, from 3:00 PM to 8:00 PM. Each person will have a 20-minute time slot. Please bring your own towel, soap and other needs. Emergency services in Bement have water available, but if you bring a container to the church, we’ll gladly fill it for you. Due to ongoing heating issues in the main portion of our building, Bement CUSD 5 will utilize a Remote Learning Day on Monday, December 8, 2025. This decision is being made to ensure the comfort and safety of our students and staff.

✅ Evening activities WILL still take place as scheduled.
The gym is heated through a separate system and remains fully operational for all scheduled events.

💻 Chromebook Access Tonight
For middle school and high school students who need to pick up a Chromebook, Door 10 will be open tonight, Sunday, December 7, from 5:00–7:00 PM.

We appreciate your flexibility and support as we navigate this unexpected situation. Our maintenance team continues to work diligently toward a full resolution.

Thank you for your cooperation and understanding.

While some progress has been made, temperatures are still not at an acceptable level in several areas of the school.

For the safety and comfort of our students and staff, we will be dismissing at noon today.

Buses will run at that time, and parents may pick up students at noon as well.

An announcement will be made by 2:00 PM regarding afterschool activities.

We’ve noticed that some areas of the school building are colder than others. Our team is actively working to resolve the issue. In the meantime, we encourage students and staff to dress in layers to stay warm throughout the day. I also want parents to be aware that if this issue cannot be fully resolved, we may need to release students early for their safety and comfort. Bement PTO Kids Shop FINAL Collection Date / Time

The PTO will have one final collection date / time to collect items to be given away at the Christmas PTO Kids Shop
Date: Sunday, December 7
Crossroads Church
12:30-1:00

We accept: household items, men's / women's accessories / Christmas wrapping paper / donations

The Kids Shop will be open on December 13 starting at 11:30 -2:00 or while supplies last
Kids will be able to shop for Mom / Dad for FREE and pick out an item to wrap to give them for Christmas.
There will be a waiting area for parents to sit while their children shop and wrap with a PTO volunteer.

We have just gotten the word that the JH Boys Basketball game for Bement has been cancelled due to weather.

There will be NO JH boys basketball practice tonight.

All other practices for after school at CG are still taking place.

The JH Boys Basketball game being played in Bement tonight is still scheduled to start at 6:00.
We will keep everyone updated if anything should change.

The JHGBB regional game at Salt Fork is being postponed until tomorrow due to the weather.

The JH Girls will NOT practice tonight, Monday December 1.

They will play tomorrow night December 2 at 7:00 at Salt Fork. The Bement bus will leave at 5:10
