💜 HIGH SCHOOL SERVICE LEARNING INCENTIVE 💜

We are excited to encourage our students to get involved and give back to our school and community! Each month, the student who completes the most Service Learning volunteer hours will earn a $50 prize! 🎉 Hours are due on the last day of the month to count towards the monthly challenge.

6th grade stem students studied thermal energy this week. The students created insulated cups to keep water cold and also were given cups of plain water. Their goal was to create the biggest difference in temperature between to insulated and uninsulated cups in 20 minutes. Students creatively found shade, black surfaces, and heated rocks to master the challenge. One team kept their water cold, with the water increasing 1 degree C. Another team achieved an 11 degree C (20F) difference in cup temperatures between the insulated and uninsulated.
What a clever group of scientists!

Studio Art classes started their year by creating a collaborative sculpture with the concept of the United States turning 250 this year. Students picked their winner for Best of Show and 3rd & 4th hour winners. Congrats to Jerrica, Hazel, and Zach for winning Best of Show!

Due to the amount of rain this morning, tonight’s CGB football scrimmage will be held on the practice field.

Parents and spectators are encouraged to bring lawn chairs for seating around the practice field. All sports team introductions will still take place on the football field, with bleacher seating available.

Following the team introductions, the football team will move to the practice field for the scrimmage.

Attention JH Softball & Baseball Families
Due to the weather the following changes have been made for JH Softball & JH Baseball for today August 14, 2026
- JH Baseball - Game is cancelled / NO Practice / Players will be announced at the Fall Scrimmage at 6:00 (no transportation provided), attendance is optional but we would love to see you there.
- JH Softball - practice will take place indoors in CG at the Elementary building.
Saturday (August 15, 2026), if the field is too wet, the baseball and softball teams will be inside. Baseball would be in the Elementary gym.

ATTENTION JH Baseball Families (August 13, 2026)

The game in Fisher for today has been cancelled due to rain.
They will practice in Cerro Gordo after school until 5:20

ATTENTION CGB ATHLETES - August 11, 2026 CGB Practice Update

CGB Athletes & Families due to extreme heat there have been changes to practice times for some sports.

JH Baseball & JH Softball will practice from 5:30-7:30 in Cerro Gordo.
The bus will leave Bement at 5:10.
They will be at Gordy Park weather permitting.

Football will be inside for practice from 3:30-5:30
No Change to HS Volleyball - 3:30-5:30
The bus will leave Bement at 3:00

Traffic Notice: The Village of Bement has notified us that work will begin at the corner of Macon and Bodman Streets on Monday, August 17. Temporary lane closures are expected.

Please avoid the area if possible and allow extra travel time when traveling to and from school. Thank you for your patience and cooperation!

Wednesday (Aug 12) - Athletes option 6:15am in Cerro Gordo (no bus) or after school in Cerro Gordo
Thursday (Aug 13) - Practice after school - location TBD
Friday (Aug 14) - Practice after school - location TBD

Starting Aug 17 - Athletes will have the option of practicing M-W at 6:15 in Cerro Gordo (no bus) or practicing after school (bus provided) location to be determined.

Thursday and Friday will always be after school practices only - location TBD.

After assessing the JH Baseball Participation numbers, CGB is going to allow 5th graders to participate on the JH Baseball team this year! If your son is interested in playing for the CGB JH Baseball team, please email Brandon Willard at bwillard@cgbroncos.org to sign up. Practice begins Monday 8/3, 3:30 at Gordy Park.
