Bement CUSD #5 will be closed on Friday, March 13, due to continued electrical issues impacting the school building.
Power to the building remains shut down while repairs are being made to the electrical line coming into the building. Because power has not yet been restored, the district is unable to safely operate the building for students and staff tomorrow.
We are grateful to our neighboring school districts for their support during this outage. Cerro Gordo assisted us by allowing us to make copies of materials for our board meeting when we were unable to access documents electronically. Monticello has also generously provided freezer space to store food from our school until power is restored.
We will continue monitoring the situation and will provide updates as additional information becomes available regarding the status of repairs and school for next week.
