Electricity

Dear Bulldog Families,

I wanted to follow up regarding the early dismissal today.

Earlier this morning, sparks were observed coming from an electrical panel in the kitchen. As a precaution, power to that area was shut down immediately. Because the power was shut off quickly, the fire alarm did not activate. However, we contacted the Bement Fire Department, and emergency personnel responded to ensure the situation was safe.

Out of an abundance of caution and due to the lack of power throughout the building, we made the decision to dismiss school early.

Since elementary lunch had already been prepared, our elementary students were able to eat lunch in their classrooms prior to dismissal.

An electrician is currently onsite working to determine the cause of the issue and assess what repairs may be needed. We will continue working with our partners to ensure the building is safe before normal operations resume.

I want to thank our staff and students for responding calmly and following procedures, as well as the Bement Fire Department for their quick assistance.  We appreciate Birch Bus Service responding quickly to provide transportation for the early dismissal.

Most importantly, all students and staff are safe.

We will provide additional updates as more information becomes available.

Thank you for your understanding and continued support of our Bulldog community.

Sincerely,

Mary Vogt
