5Essentials

Beginning Tuesday, February 3, schools across Illinois will be taking part in the Illinois 5Essentials Survey. This survey helps schools understand what is working well and what can be improved. We are inviting you to participate in the parent survey and share your thoughts about your child’s school.

The survey is run by UChicago Impact on behalf of the Illinois State Board of Education. It asks questions about five important areas that research shows help students succeed:

  • Effective school leadership

  • Teachers working well together

  • Family involvement

  • A safe and supportive school environment

  • High-quality teaching and learning

Teachers and students in grades 4–12 will also be completing the survey. Schools receive a summary report if enough people participate. These reports help guide school improvement and are included in the State School Report Card.

Bement CUSD 5 is also offering the optional Parent Survey. If at least 20% of parents at each school complete the survey, a parent report will be created. Parent results are not included in the State Report Card.

Your responses are completely confidential and will never be connected to you or your child.

🗓 Survey dates: February 3 – March 13
