iSaludos de la nueva profesora de español! Greetings from the new Spanish teacher! I have come out of a short retirement to be a part of a caring professional group of teachers here at Bement High School. My teaching career is full of interesting challenges and learning experiences. My Bachelor of Arts degree in English and Spanish was earned at Olivet Nazarene College in Kankakee. A couple of years later I attended Illinois State University in Normal and earned a minor in Speech Communication. In 1990 I earned a Master of Arts degree from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. While improving my own education, I taught in both rural and city schools and loved teaching both Spanish and English. My last teaching position was in the Georgetown-Ridge Farm School District. Upon retirement, my husband and I moved from our country home near Fithian to Monticello where we currently reside. I substituted in the Monticello and Bement school districts and am now employed as a part-time, long-term Spanish teacher here in Bement. This first semester I am teaching Tuesday thru Friday. Second semester I will be teaching Tuesday thru Thursday only. My privilege is to share the week with another very capable, knowledgeable retired Spanish teacher, Ann Hudson.
