Welcome to Bement CUSD #5!

I am looking forward to a fantastic school year!  I have had a very busy summer moving and getting to know all of the faculty and staff here in Bement.  I can not wait to meet all those smiling faces when we come back to full in-person learning in August.

Prior to coming to Bement, I graduated from Kaskaskia College with an Associates Degree in Early Childhood.  While working at Kaskaskia College as an Assistant Director in the Early Childhood Developmental Building, I also served as the Assistant Women's Basketball Coach under Ms. Marialice Jenkins. 

In 1996 I went back to school and began working on my Bachelor Degree in Elementary Education at Southern Illinois University in Carbondale graduating in December of 1998.

I began teaching in the Okawville School District (West Washington Unit District #10) March of 1999 and spent my entire 22 years there teaching Title 1 Reading, 2nd grade, and 1st grade.  While teaching in Okawville I pursued a Master's Degree in Education from Rockford University and a Master's Degree in Administration from Eastern Illinois University. 

While at Okawville, I coached 5/6 grade girls basketball, Jr. High softball, and High School Softball.  I was the sponsor for the Fellowship of Christian Athletes, Region 4 OEA building representative, Region 4 Treasurer, and the OEA Union President.

I got married in 2012 to my husband Alex, and have a step-daughter Morgan.  I am a very proud aunt to 4 nephews (Brock, Trent, Nolan, and Ezra) and 1 niece (Sadie) and a Great-Aunt to Elena Sue (born June 14th).  I am also a dog-mom to our English-setter, Valentine.  If you see me riding around on my scooter or walking the dog please stop and say hello.  

We look forward to getting to know all of the Bement families and finding out more about this wonderful town.
