Drop-Off Procedures for School

Dear Parents and Guardians,

This is Dr. Greenwood, Bement Supt of Schools with an important message about tomorrow.  First of all, everyone here at school is looking forward to seeing your student tomorrow.  It has been a very long 5 months since we have been able to be together here at school.  We are also excited for all of our students that have chosen remote learning as they get back into the swing of things as well. Remote learning schedules will be finalized this week.

The drop off procedures for the students has changed due to our safety measures with COVID.  Only students eating breakfast may be dropped off before 8:00.  Breakfast starts at 7:50 and all students eating breakfast must enter Door #17, the cafeteria door.  Otherwise, no students should be dropped off before 8:00.  We will be enforcing this in order to provide the utmost safety.  One change that is going to be quite different and difficult is that parents must not gather on the playground before or after school.  On the elementary side, each grade level will have a series of “spots” taped off where they will line up socially distanced alphabetically as this will help with the health screenings prior to entering the building. (Doors #1 & #2)  Staff will be outside to help carry extra school supplies to help the children.

Middle school students will also have socially distanced spots on the middle school playground and will do their health screenings at Door #19.

High school students will be coming in Door #10 and will be given directions tomorrow morning.  Freshmen and Sophomores will be lining up on one sidewalk and Juniors and Seniors will be lining up on the other sidewalk along with the morning PK students/parents.  Afternoon PK will also come in Door #10.

We need your help in keeping everyone safe.  If your child has any symptoms or is feeling ill, please keep them home. Symptoms include a fever of over 100.4, cough, difficulty breathing, chills, sore throat, pressure in their chest, muscle pain, persistent headache and persistent loss of taste or smell.

IF anyone in your household becomes COVID positive, please notify the school.  Students who have a COVID positive person in their household will need to quarantine for 14 days.

We will be providing further information for you on our school website about the Illinois Department of Public Health’s exclusion from school rules. If you would like to review this message, please check it out on our school website and other social media sites. That was a lot of information to digest.

In the meantime, please stay safe, mask up and just know that there will be a whole lot of smiles tomorrow under our masks as we welcome our students back to school.
