Technology Information for School Closure

All students grades 2-12 were asked about their technology capabilities at home, and we tried to do our best to send Chromebooks home with students who said they did not have a device at home to use for continuity of learning. We did our best to determine the need, but if your child did not receive a Chromebook, and they need one during the closure, please call the school at 217-678-4200, or contact Andrew Brown at abrown@bement.k12.il.us. Pickup will happen between 8 am and 1 p.m. on Tuesday. March 17. Beyond that, arrangements will be made to accommodate everyone.

Students who took home a device have been told to use it with care. The Chromebook is the property of Bement CUSD 5, and must be returned in working order with all other school property such as textbooks at the end of this closure. All normal district policies concerning district property will apply to these devices. If your child was sent with a Chromebook and does not need it, the device may be returned. Please note, outside our school network, we cannot monitor students' actions, so students will need to be monitored as you normally would with electronics at home.

Teachers will be using a variety of mediums to share information with students, primarily the Google Classroom App. It can be used on any device with an internet connection, including Chromebooks, PCs, IPads, other tablets, and smartphones.

If the technology issued to your student fails to work, or there are other technology problems, like forgotten password, etc., please contact Andrew Brown at abrown@bement.k12.il.us or Linda Taylor at ltaylor@bement.k12.il.us
