Launch the media gallery 1 playerEllie Shonkwiler was honored on May 2nd as Bement High School April Student of the Month.
Annie Hobson, English teacher, commented, “Ellie is an extremely hard worker with a wonderfully positive attitude. She is involved in many extracurricular activities, yet still strives to do her very best on all of her school work. She is a critical thinker, always trying to dig deeper in the understanding of her academics. She is a terrific example for other students.” Ellie participates in the School Play, Math Club, National Honor Society, Art Club, Lifesavers, Scholastic Bowl, Yearbook, Student Council and Spanish Club. Ellie has played volleyball, basketball and track. She is a member of the cheer squad. Ellie is the daughter of Kent and Stephanie Shonkwiler of Bement.
The Student of the Month Award is co-sponsored by the High School Student Council and the State Bank of Bement. Its purpose is to recognize a student whose attitude and involvement serve to improve our school. This award was announced during an assembly where Ellie was presented a certificate by Annie Hobson, Student Council Sponsor, and a gift card by Michelle Gross from the State Bank of Bement.
