Piatt County HS Students Take Part in "Welcome to the Real World" Hosted by BHS and the State Bank of Bement

On the morning of Friday, February 19, 2016, students from 4 area high schools descended on the the BHS small gym to take part in "Welcome to the Real World," a program sponsored by the University of Illinois Extension office out of Clinton, IL and the State Bank of Bement. In this program, students simulated living on their own for a month on salary for their prospective careers. They were given a checkbook and told to pay bills. At the end, if they had money left in their account, they received a Payday candybar, and if their balance was none or negative, they received a Zero bar.

Local business owners took part in the program as well, with representatives from the State Bank of Bement, Country Companies, Stout Law Office, Tracy, Miller, Funk, & Associates, JTA, Jennings Implement, and others volunteering their time. Special thank you to Tabitha Elder from the State Bank of Bement and Sherry Fulton from the U of I Extension Office for all of their hard work.
